🗺️ Things to see on your doorstep
📍 Villa Rufolo
Just 250 metres from Villa Gala, in the heart of Ravello, lies one of the most iconic and enchanting places on the Amalfi Coast: Villa Rufolo. A few minutes' walk will take you to a timeless place where history, art and nature merge in a dreamlike atmosphere. Overlooking the sea, the villa offers breathtaking views that have inspired artists, poets and musicians, including the famous Richard Wagner.
The gardens suspended above the blue sea are one of the most immortalized attractions on the coast: here, lush flowers alternate with panoramic terraces from which the gaze is lost in infinity. But Villa Rufolo is much more than a beautiful postcard. As you step through the elegant entrance, you will discover ancient courtyards, Moorish arches and historic rooms that tell the story of centuries of noble life.
During the summer, the villa becomes an exceptional stage for internationally renowned concerts and cultural events, thanks to the Ravello Festival, which finds its most fascinating setting here.
📍 Villa Cimbrone
The gardens of Villa Cimbrone – six hectares of green art – are an open-air museum. Flower-lined avenues, classical statues, fountains, grottoes and pergolas intertwine in an extraordinary scenic route.
The heart of this park is the famous Terrace of Infinity: a stone balcony framed by marble busts, suspended over the sea and the sky, where the view stretches to the horizon, creating an impression of infinity that has fascinated writers and travellers alike, from Gore Vidal to Ferdinand Gregorovius.
Strolling along these paths means venturing into a living fairy tale, where every corner surprises: from the medieval cloister with its Gothic arches to the small neoclassical temples, to the hedges that frame enchanting views.
Every stone and every statue narrates a story of charm, passion for beauty and poetry.
Here you will find more information about this unmissable gem just a few steps from your accommodation.
📍 Ravello Cathedral
Overlooking the picturesque central square of Ravello, the Duomo di Ravello, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and the patron saint San Pantaleone, is a treasure trove of art, history and spirituality, capable of capturing the heart of visitors from the very first glance. Originally built in the 11th century, this Romanesque masterpiece blends Norman, Byzantine and Arab-Moorish influences, offering an elegant and harmonious style.
The monumental white façade features three marble and bronze portals, sculptures and mullioned windows which, together with the Moorish bell tower, tell the story of 900 years of architectural evolution.
Upon entering the building, visitors are greeted by three naves supported by granite columns and antique marble, where two extraordinary ambones stand out: the Ambo of the Epistle (circa 1130), finely carved with sacred mosaics, and the Ambo of the Gospel from 1272, a masterpiece by Nicola di Bartolomeo da Foggia, embellished with Syrian mosaics and sacred symbols.
The interior also houses the Chapel of St. Pantaleon, a Baroque jewel built in the 17th century, with the extraordinary relic of the saint's blood, kept in an ampoule: a sacred object which, according to tradition, takes on a miraculous meaning on 27 July, the patron saint's day. The crypt and the adjoining museum are also impressive, housing medieval artefacts, sculptures, relics and frescoes, as well as architectural elements from the Roman era that were adapted in the cathedral.
