🧭 How to reach

The Suite del Cavaliere is located in Via Filippo Augustariccio, 4: the location is very central and very easy to reach.

Amalfi, as we also explain here, is a very strategic destination for anyone wishing to move easily between the various destinations on the Amalfi Coast: in fact, all Sita buses and ferries leave from here to reach both the other villages and destinations a little further away, such as Capri and Sorrento.

Below, we provide you with all the information you need to reach your destination without stress.

If travelling by public transport

✅ If you arrive at Naples airport, you will need to get to Naples Central Station. You can do this by using the Alibus service, which runs from 5:45 a.m. until 11:45 p.m., with an optimal frequency (about every 15-20 minutes).

If you have a lot of luggage and prefer more comfort, you can also plan a transfer with the taxis available at the exit of the airport: the taxis travel at fixed tariffs, generally costing no more than €30 to reach the station.

✅ From the Napoli Centrale station, you will have to reach the city of Salerno, travelling by regional or Intercity train: your journey time will not exceed 50/60 minutes.

Otherwise, if you are travelling in spring or summer, you can also reach Molo Beverello to reach Salerno by sea.

Please note that the Amalfi Coast does not have a railway line:
🔹 therefore, you can reach Amalfi by road
🔹 or by sea.

In the first case, you will travel on board the Sita Sud buses: they run approximately every hour, except on holidays, during which the frequency of the service is halved.
Sita Sud buses stop in all the villages on the Amalfi Coast and will be your means of transport during your holiday.

In this regard, we recommend downloading the Unico App, through which you can purchase your tickets easily from your smartphone, without having to stop at any of the authorised sales points.

If you are not tech-savvy, you can rely on the many shops (usually bars or tobacconists) that show the ‘Unico’ logo and are allowed to sell tickets.
Sometimes you can buy tickets on board, but this is not normally provided: always try to buy tickets before boarding the bus and remember to obliterate them!

At the station, you can buy them at the newsstand just before the exit.
Your stop for Amalfi will be on the right, under the only visible bus shelter, a few steps from the exit.

Amalfi is the last stop: enjoy your 60-minute journey from your window and start savouring the beauty of the Amalfi Coast!

By sea

Alternatively, you can reach Amalfi by travelling on board the Travelmar ferries, which you can take from Molo Concordia, which is about a 15-minute walk from Salerno Station.

In this case, your travel experience will be more pleasant and suggestive, as you can enjoy the view from the sea, immediately getting into the holiday mood.

Travelmar's service is generally available from spring until November: if you plan to travel by sea, we advise you to check the availability of the service, which may vary due to adverse weather conditions.

If you are travelling by car

Reaching Amalfi by car means immersing yourself in a landscape that will leave you breathless. But beware, the coastal road is a unique experience that requires some practice and attention.

✅ Starting from the north:
If you are coming from the A1 motorway, the most convenient exit is Angri. From here, you will take the state road that leads to the Valico di Chiunzi, a panoramic point that will give you a first taste of the beauty of the coast.

Beyond the pass, you will begin to descend towards the coast, passing through the characteristic villages of Tramonti until you reach Maiori. From here, follow the signs for Amalfi and get ready for a succession of bends and hairpin bends that will lead you straight into the heart of this pearl of the Amalfi Coast.

✅ Starting from the south:
If you are arriving from Salerno, the itinerary is even more evocative. Following the SS163, you will immediately find yourself immersed in the heart of the Amalfi Coast.

Every bend is a new emotion, every panorama a picture to be immortalised. You will pass through picturesque villages such as Vietri sul Mare, famous for its ceramics, and Cetara, renowned for its colatura di alici.

Every nook and cranny of the museum tells a story, from the collection of rags to the pressing of the sheets, offering you a unique and immersive experience.

Among the activities offered, there is also the possibility of participating in interactive workshops, through which you can personally make your own sheet of paper by hand: an unforgettable experience that will allow you to take home a piece of history.

Inside the Museum you will also find a gift shop, where you can buy some special souvenirs to take home to your friends and relatives.

🗓️ Events not to be missed

✅ Celebrations in honour of Saint Andrew
Amalfi fervently celebrates its patron saint, Saint Andrew the Apostle, on two solemn occasions: 27 June and 30 November. The feast day most deeply felt by the people of Amalfi is 30 November, which coincides with the liturgical date dedicated to the Apostle.

During these celebrations, the city comes alive with faith and devotion, with parades through the streets of the historic centre and culminating with the spectacular run up the steps of the Duomo.

The statue of the Saint, carried on the shoulders of the faithful, is accompanied by songs and music, creating a unique and evocative atmosphere. The final run down the steps of the cathedral is the highlight of the festival: a moment of great emotion, it represents a heartfelt homage to the patron saint and unites the entire community in an embrace of faith and tradition.

✅ The Byzantine New Year
If you are in Amalfi between late August and early September, do not miss the Byzantine New Year.

During these days, in fact, Amalfi and Atrani are transformed into a medieval stage for this spectacular historical commemoration, which lasts for several days, bringing back to life the glorious traditions of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi.

From 31 August, the atmosphere is charged with expectation with conferences and meetings dedicated to medieval history and culture. The climax of the festival is reached on 1 September, when an imposing historical cortege parades through the streets of the two towns, re-enacting the ancient Doge's investiture ceremony.

In period costume, participants and flag-wavers recreate the atmosphere of the past, involving the public in a journey into the past. The choice of 1 September is not random: in medieval times, this date marked the beginning of the fiscal and legal year in Amalfi, as in many other towns influenced by Byzantine culture.

This event, which we also discuss in this article, offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the traditions, customs and art of the period, through theatrical performances, period games and guided visits to historical monuments.

The Historical Regatta
The last edition of the Historical Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics, which saw Amalfi triumph, took place in 2022.

This competition, which attracts enthusiasts and tourists from all over Italy every four years, is much more than a simple rowing race.

It is a real plunge into the past, an opportunity to relive the splendour of the ancient maritime republics and the competitive spirit that animated them. Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice compete in an evocative rowing race, preceded by a majestic historical procession evoking the elegance and splendour of the Middle Ages.

The next time Amalfi will host this event will be in 2026, an occasion not to be missed to witness a unique and fascinating spectacle.
