🧭 How to reach

How to reach Villa Mary Suites
Villa Mary Suites awaits you in the heart of Positano, in Via Li Parlati, in one of the most convenient and panoramic areas of the historic centre.
From here, you can experience the magic of the Amalfi Coast on foot: the Spiaggia Grande beach is only ten minutes away, and everything – restaurants, shops, stairways and views – is within walking distance. The central yet quiet location is ideal for those who want to savour every moment of their trip without any worries. The property is easily accessible by car, public transport, ferry and private transfer. Here's how to best organise your trip based on your city of departure and chosen means of transport.

✅ If you land at Naples or the new Salerno airport and are travelling by public transport

If your flight arrives at Naples Capodichino Airport, you can reach the Central Station in about 20 minutes by Alibus (every 15–20 minutes) or by taxi at a fixed rate. From there, you have two options: take a train to Salerno or one to Sorrento, depending on your preferred route.
Alternatively, if you land at the new Costa d'Amalfi Airport in Salerno, you can reach the city centre in a few minutes by taxi or with the convenient Airlink service.

From the centre of Salerno, you have two perfect options for reaching Positano:

🔹 By sea with Travelmar: ferries depart from Molo Concordia and take you to Amalfi. From there, you can continue by ferry or by SITA Sud bus to Positano.
🔹 Ferry + bus combination: depending on your arrival time, you may prefer to take the bus to Amalfi and then continue by ferry, or take the bus, depending on your arrival time and the season in which you are travelling.

Please note that Travelmar ferries generally operate from March to November. In any case, we recommend checking the availability of the service, which may be subject to disruption in the event of adverse weather conditions.

✅ If you are arriving by car

Are you planning to reach the Amalfi Coast by car? Here is what you need to know:
🔹From the north (Naples or Rome): take the A1 motorway and then the A3 Naples-Salerno. Exit at Castellammare di Stabia and follow the signs for Sorrento, then continue on the spectacular SS163 towards Positano.

🔹From the south: the most convenient exit is Vietri sul Mare. From there, enjoy the journey along the famous SS163, passing through villages such as Cetara, Minori, Amalfi and Praiano until you reach Positano.

Please note that Villa Mary Suites does not have private parking, but can book a garage nearby for you, so you don't have to worry about anything. Be sure to book your parking space in advance, as finding parking spaces at the last minute can be very difficult and stressful during high season.

🗺️ Things to see on your doorstep

📍 The Church of Santa Maria Assunta

The Church of Santa Maria Assunta is much more than just a place of worship: it is the artistic and spiritual heart of Positano, perched on a natural terrace a stone's throw from the Spiaggia Grande beach in Piazza Flavio Gioia.
What immediately catches your eye is the brightly coloured majolica dome – yellow, green and blue – which stands out like a jewel among the painted buildings, illuminating the entire view of the coast.

Its history dates back to the Middle Ages, when a 10th-century Benedictine abbey was built on the ruins of a Roman villa. Today, you can still explore ancient crypts under the altar, frescoed and rich in archaeological charm.

Inside, the plain but elegant church is divided into three naves marked by arches and three large aisles, which were subsequently divided in the 18th century: perfect glimpses of devotion, with side chapels dedicated to saints such as Vitale, Stefano and Nicola, and a mechanical organ that marks every ritual.
The bell tower, rebuilt in 1707 by a Capuchin friar, overlooks the square, offering a gently monumental view.

📍 The MAR Museum

Behind the bell tower of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta lies an authentic archaeological treasure: the MAR - Roman Archaeological Museum of Positano, inaugurated on 18 July 2018.
Descend eleven metres below the urban fabric and find yourself in the triclinium, a Roman dining room measuring approximately 30 m², adorned with brilliant frescoes and polychrome marble in shades of blue and red – a veritable painting in stone that recounts the luxury and “otium” of imperial splendour. But the journey does not end there: you enter the two crypts above the church, underground spaces full of mystery where pillars, niches and 69 built-in seats invite you to listen to the voices of the past.

From 1 April to 31 October, the MAR is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while from 1 November to 31 March, admission is between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The guided tour takes about 30 minutes, perfect for capturing every detail without getting tired.
We recommend wearing layers, as the temperature of the site is kept low to preserve the frescoes.
You can purchase tickets online on the official website or directly on site with a credit card (Visa/Mastercard) or debit card. Cash payments are not accepted.

📍 Fornillo Beach

The perfect retreat if you are looking for relaxation away from the crowds. Located in the village of the same name, this bay offers a wild yet refined atmosphere, with pebbles and sand, crystal clear waters awarded with the Blue and Green Flag.
Getting there is a real pleasure: from Spiaggia Grande, it takes about 10-15 minutes on foot along the picturesque panoramic path of Via Positanesi d'America, which offers glimpses of the sea at every turn.

If you prefer, you can also get there by sea taxi from the pier in Positano, or park nearby and walk down the stairs, as the beach opens up just below the cliffs.
Beach bars and establishments complete the experience: you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, sample fresh fish dishes in small restaurants overlooking the sea or enjoy a spot on the free beach. The area is also ideal for snorkelling, thanks to the rocky seabed that gently slopes into the crystal-clear waters.

📣 Here you will find our guide dedicated to the beaches of the Amalfi Coast.

📍 The iconic Marina Grande beach
📍 The village of Nocelle, which you can easily reach by city minibus.

🎉 Things to do nearby

Staying in this comfy and central spot, you can enjoy a mix of authentic emotions, with the bonus of being able to set off every day to discover enchanting places without giving up any comforts. Just a few steps from your room, you'll find one of the most fascinating areas of the Mediterranean, where every day can turn into an unforgettable experience.

✅ If you love being in touch with nature, the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) is a must: a panoramic trek that starts in Bomerano (a hamlet of Agerola) and winds its way between the sky and the sea, offering breathtaking views of the coast, the Li Galli islands and Vesuvius. You can book a guided excursion, with convenient departure directly from the hotel, which also includes a stop for lunch in the village of Nocelle: typical cuisine and spectacular views in an atmosphere suspended in time.

✅ The tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius is also a must: accompanied by an expert guide, you will explore the ruins of the city buried by the eruption of 79 AD, walking among temples, villas and thousand-year-old frescoes. Then climb up to the crater of Vesuvius, where the view of the entire gulf will leave you speechless.

✅ Or you can relax with a boat trip along the coast, departing directly from the pier in Positano: among sea caves, secret coves and stops for a swim, you can experience the sea like a true local, perhaps sipping a drink on board.

✅ If you are staying for several days, consider a day trip to beautiful Sorrento, easily reached in about 40 minutes by car or ferry. From there, you can continue to Naples, which is about 1 hour and 10 minutes by train on the Circumvesuviana line or Campania Express trains: a perfect day trip if you want a taste of Neapolitan culture, street food and art.

✅ Don't miss a day on the island of Capri, with its Blue Grotto, sea stacks and lemon scents: ferries depart daily from Positano.
Finally, take advantage of the proximity to Praiano, a small, authentic and less crowded village, perfect for a sunset stroll or a romantic dinner by the sea.

🗓️ Events not to be missed

✅ Ferragosto in Positano
Every 15 August, Positano is transformed: the feast day of the Madonna Assunta, the town's patron saint, is celebrated with a festival that combines devotion, spectacle and community spirit. From early morning, the bells ring out in celebration, and at 6.30 pm, the ‘Cento Croci, Cento Ave Maria’ introduces the solemn Mass, followed by an evocative procession through the illuminated and flower-decorated streets.

But it is at night that the sky above Positano reveals its magic: at midnight, an incredible fireworks display explodes over the bay, reflecting off the boats dotting the sea and creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

The Feast of the Assumption is not only a Positano event: Maiori also comes alive for its patron saint, Santa Maria a Mare, with solemn processions beginning at dawn, religious celebrations and the evocative race of the statue along the 127 steps from the Collegiata.
In Maiori, too, fireworks light up the sea on the evening of 15 August, offering an equally exciting pyrotechnic display.

To enjoy them to the fullest, many travellers and locals choose an evening boat tour from Positano to Maiori: an exclusive experience where you can admire both events from a unique perspective, suspended between sky and sea. Immersed in the dark water, with the reflections of the bright explosions all around you, you can toast, get excited and feel the heart of the Amalfi Coast beating in unison.

📌 Not to be missed if you are staying here

✅ If you love authentic flavours, don't miss Il Ristorante ‘La Tagliata’
Are you in Positano seeking an authentic experience that combines genuine cuisine, breathtaking views and a touch of tradition?
La Tagliata is the one to try: perched on sunny terraces among oak and olive trees, it's a little hideaway surrounded by nature, where silence meets spectacular views of the coast. Here, the ingredients come straight from the farm's own garden, guaranteeing fresh flavours and authentic meat cuts prepared with love.
A perfect little place to enjoy four hearty courses, rich in local products.
Don't forget: La Tagliata is also a working farm! You can visit the vegetable garden, pick vegetables and even collect a fresh egg, participating in an authentic farming experience.

✅ Fancy some sushi on the Amalfi Coast? Try Misaki Sushi!
If you are looking for a different dining experience in the heart of the coast, Misaki Sushi is the right restaurant to add an exotic touch to your stay in Positano. Located along the scenic Via Pasitea, this restaurant combines contemporary design with the sophistication of Japanese cuisine, offering a surprising alternative to local tradition, but perfectly integrated with the chic atmosphere of the village.
The menu is an invitation to travel through oriental flavours and fresh ingredients: sushi and sashimi prepared to order, sophisticated uramaki, crispy temaki and carefully prepared vegetarian options. There are also specialities such as stuffed bao buns and edamame, perfect for those who want to start with something tasty.
The cosy and welcoming location has tables both inside and outside, with the option of dining al fresco while admiring the colours of the sunset over the white houses of Positano.
In short, it is the ideal place for a romantic dinner, a different kind of evening or even a gourmet lunch break away from the crowds on the beach.
