🗺️ Things to see on your doorstep

📍 Villa Rufolo

Strolling through its flower-filled avenues, you will be left breathless: the gardens, overlooking the coast, become a natural theatre for the famous Ravello Festival, hosting concerts at dawn and performances under the stars.
It was here that Wagner, who arrived in 1880, recognised the evocative “Klingsor's garden” for his opera Parsifal.
Climbing the Torre Maggiore (after about 100 steps), a breathtaking view opens up: the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the silhouette of the village, the paths adorned with maritime pines that seem painted on the horizon. Inside, the restored rooms host temporary exhibitions, while the architectural complex, between the Moorish cloister and the entrance tower with the symbolic figures of Charity and Hospitality, tells of a past rich in style and power.
Visiting Villa Rufolo means immersing yourself in a total experience: art, music, botany and history come together in a unique emotional journey. Between postcard views and suspended reflections, every step here is an invitation to slow down, contemplate and let yourself be enveloped by the magic of one of the brightest pearls of the Amalfi Coast.

📍 Villa Cimbrone

If you are looking for a place that will take your breath away, Villa Cimbrone is a destination not to be missed. Located in beautiful Ravello, this historic residence welcomes you with manicured gardens, fragrant paths and views that look like paintings. Strolling among statues, pergolas and ancient fountains, you will feel as if you have crossed the threshold of a world suspended between dream and reality. And then there is the famous Terrazza dell'Infinito, one of the most iconic panoramic balconies in the world: standing here, with your gaze lost between the blue of the sky and the sea, you will feel as if you are truly touching infinity.
Villa Cimbrone is an experience, not just a visit. It invites you to slow down, lose yourself in its secret corners and savour every detail. This magical place has inspired artists, poets and travellers throughout the ages: its illustrious guests include Virginia Woolf, T.S. Eliot and many others who found beauty, silence and inspiration here. And today, this marvel is ready to welcome you too.
Whether you want to take breathtaking photos, experience a romantic moment or simply breathe in a timeless atmosphere, Villa Cimbrone will captivate you step by step. Prepare to walk through history and nature, neo-Gothic architecture and exotic gardens, on a journey that is a true feast for the senses. Don't miss this opportunity: let yourself be surprised and discover one of the most enchanting places on the Amalfi Coast.

📍 The Cathedral of Ravello

Discover the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Pantaleone, the beating heart of Ravello, which awaits you with its striking Romanesque façade and soul steeped in history. Built in the 11th century on commission from the first bishop, Orso Papice, the cathedral overlooks Piazza del Vescovado as an elegant witness to the past, embellished by a Moorish-style bell tower that dominates the blue sky of the coast.
As you enter, you will be welcomed by an intimate and fascinating atmosphere: the three-nave interior surprises with its medieval details, such as the majestic Ambo of the Epistle, decorated with Byzantine mosaics and symbols of the evangelists, and the refined Ambo of the Gospel, built in the 13th century and supported by twisted columns and refined statuettes. You can also admire the ciborium and the Baroque dome that elegantly crown the presbytery, while art and devotion intertwine in the side chapels, among the decorative cycles dedicated to St. Pantaleon and St. Michael the Archangel, true treasure troves of history and spirituality.
Don't miss the crypt, now a museum, where the cathedral's artefacts – relics, sarcophagi, sacred works and fragments of the original ciborium – tell a story of ancient charm renewed by a sense of modern wonder. Here, spirituality intertwines with art in a unique embrace, to be experienced with calm and curiosity.
As you contemplate the cathedral, you will sense its centuries-old function as a religious and cultural centre: it has been a minor basilica since 1918 and has been protected by the state as a national monument since 1941. Piazza del Vescovado, the surrounding cafés and tourists captivated by the enchantment create a vibrant backdrop to the timeless beauty of the church.

🗓️ Events not to be missed

✅ Ravello Festival – Music and art in a unique setting
Between June and September, Ravello becomes the cultural heart of the Amalfi Coast thanks to the Ravello Festival, one of the most prestigious artistic events in the area. The gardens of Villa Rufolo and the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium host symphony concerts, jazz, dance, cinema, exhibitions and meetings with international artists. With a special connection to the music of Wagner, today the festival celebrates art in all its forms, offering events that combine music and landscape in a truly exciting experience.
An event to mark in your diary? The Concert at Dawn on 10 August, on the night of San Lorenzo: an evocative open-air performance in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, accompanied by the sunrise.

✅ The Burning of Torello – Tradition and spectacle
Every September, the village of Torello celebrates the Burning of Torello, an event that closes the festivities in honour of Our Lady of Sorrows. The spectacle re-enacts the Pisan assault of 1135 with fireworks, projections and light shows that “set fire” to the houses of the village, creating a spectacular scene.
The ideal vantage point? Ravello, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire event.

✅ The Troccola del Venerdì Santo – An ancient ritual
During Holy Week, Ravello celebrates the Troccola del Venerdì Santo, a deeply felt religious tradition. During these days, the bells are silent and the rhythmic sound of the troccola – an ancient wooden and metal instrument – accompanies the evening religious march through the streets of the village.
An authentic and profound experience that will allow you to discover the local spirituality and culture up close.

📌 Not to be missed if you are staying here

✅ Pizza with a view at Giuliana’s View
During your stay in Ravello, one dining experience you shouldn’t miss is an evening at Giuliana’s View. This panoramic pizzeria, located just a few minutes from the historic center, offers a stunning view of the Amalfi Coast. From the terrace you can admire the sea and the breathtaking landscape that slopes down toward the coastline while enjoying a pizza prepared according to authentic Italian tradition. The dough is carefully prepared and left to rise for a long time, then topped with fresh, high-quality ingredients that create light and flavorful pizzas. If you enjoy hands-on culinary experiences, you can also join cooking classes and pizza-making sessions, a unique opportunity to learn some of the secrets of local Italian cuisine.

✅ Discover local craftsmanship at the Museo del Corallo
While strolling through the charming streets of Ravello’s historic center, just a short walk from the cathedral, you can visit the Museo del Corallo, a small yet fascinating cultural attraction that celebrates a craft deeply connected to the Mediterranean. Founded by master coral artisan Giorgio Filocamo, the museum preserves a valuable collection of coral objects passed down through generations of his family. During your visit, you can admire cameos, jewelry, shells, and other finely crafted pieces that reflect centuries of artistic tradition. Although the museum is small and the visit is brief, it offers an interesting insight into the history of Mediterranean red coral and its importance in the artistic and commercial traditions of Southern Italy. It is a perfect stop if you want to discover a more authentic and lesser-known side of Ravello.
