🗺️ Things to see on your doorstep

📍 Ravello Cathedral

In the heart of Ravello's main square, the Cathedral stands as a bridge between centuries of history and spirituality. Founded in 1086 and dedicated to Saint Pantaleon, patron saint of the city, this building captivates visitors with its simple Romanesque elegance and artistic details that are revealed step by step. The simple façade conceals a surprising interior, where the magnificent ambo decorated with Byzantine mosaics and the precious bronze portal made in Constantinople stand out. Every corner tells a story: one of faith, creativity and the deep bond between Ravello and its glorious past. Stop and admire the blood of the patron saint, which according to tradition liquefies every year on 27 July, just like San Gennaro in Naples.

📍 Villa Rufolo: pure enchantment suspended between gardens and Wagnerian notes

Villa Rufolo is one of those places that seem to have come out of a dream. Set right next to the Duomo, this ancient noble residence boasts an irresistible mix of Arabic architecture, flower-filled gardens and breathtaking sea views. Its famous belvedere, which opens like a curtain onto the infinite blue of the coast, has inspired artists and poets of all ages, including Richard Wagner, who imagined his enchanted kingdom for “Parsifal” right here. Strolling through the gardens of the villa, now home to the Ravello Festival, is a poetic experience: among fragrant flowers, crenellated towers and panoramic views, you will feel that beauty can truly become music.

📍 Villa Cimbrone – Where the sky kisses the earth

Villa Cimbrone is not only one of Ravello's most famous attractions, it is an emotional journey through art, landscape and harmony. Perched on a rocky spur overlooking the sea, it can be reached by a walk through quiet alleys scented with lemons.
Once you pass through the gateway, everything changes: Italian gardens, classical statues, fountains and tree-lined paths accompany you to the famous Terrazzo dell'Infinito, one of the most iconic viewpoints in Italy. From here, the view opens up vertiginously over the Gulf of Salerno, in an embrace of sky and sea that will be carved into your memory.
It is the perfect place to stop, breathe and let yourself be surprised by the power of beauty.

And what's more, you are close to:

📍 the hamlet of Scala: considered the oldest village on the Amalfi Coast, Scala welcomes you with its authentic charm, far from mass tourism. Its hamlets, quiet alleys and panoramic terraces offer a journey back in time, between medieval history and unspoilt nature.

Don't miss a visit to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the ancient defensive towers and the paths that connect the village to Ravello and the Valle delle Ferriere.

Designed by the famous Brazilian architect, it hosts concerts, shows and cultural events, offering the public a unique experience combining art and scenery. Its panoramic terrace is perfect for a contemplative break, with breathtaking views of the coast and the endless blue sea.

🗓️ Events not to be missed

✅ Ravello Festival
In the heart of the Amalfi Coast, among views that have inspired poets and composers, the Ravello Festival is an internationally recognised cultural excellence. It takes place between June and September in a series of events ranging from classical music to dance, jazz to theatre, cinema to visual arts. Founded in 1953 as a tribute to composer Richard Wagner, who visited Ravello in 1880, the festival has maintained a strong musical identity while expanding its artistic scope over time.
The venues hosting the festival are themselves works of art: the gardens of Villa Rufolo, with terraces overlooking the sea, create a dream setting for evening concerts, while the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium, designed by the famous Brazilian architect, is a modern temple of acoustics and design, suspended over the gulf like an elegant spaceship.
The most eagerly awaited moment? The Concert at Dawn, held every year on 10 August, on the night of San Lorenzo. As the sky lights up with the first rays of dawn and shooting stars streak across the darkness, an orchestra accompanies the sunrise with poignant harmonies. A poetic and almost mystical experience to be enjoyed in silence, enveloped by the coolness of dawn and the scent of the sea.

✅ The Burning of Torello
Every year in September, the small village of Torello, a hamlet of Ravello, becomes the scene of one of the most spectacular folk re-enactments in southern Italy: the Burning of Torello. The event is inspired by the Pisan assault of 1135, when, according to tradition, the village was attacked and set on fire. Today, that memory takes shape in a spectacle of fireworks and projections that symbolically “set fire” to the houses of the village.
Houses lit up like torches, balconies “in flames”, lights flowing between the roofs. All this takes place to the sound of epic soundtracks and historical narrations broadcast over a public address system. This is not just fireworks: it is a meticulously staged event that transforms the entire village into an open-air theatre. Every family takes part by decorating their houses and terraces, making the festival a source of collective pride.
If you want to enjoy the entire show with an exceptional view, we recommend staying in Ravello: from the panoramic terrace of the belvedere or from one of the many private villas, you can watch the entire “fire” unfold before your eyes, with the sea in the background.

✅ The Troccola del Venerdì Santo
In the heart of Holy Week, Ravello preserves one of its most fascinating and mysterious religious traditions: the Troccola on the solemn day of Good Friday. While the church bells fall silent in mourning, an archaic sound echoes through the ancient alleys of the village: it is the troccola, a liturgical instrument made of wood and metal, which emits a dry, continuous rhythm, similar to a lament.
The procession that winds its way at sunset is a deeply moving experience. The faithful, dressed in dark clothes, walk through the streets in absolute silence, interrupted only by the rhythmic beating of the troccola. The statues of the dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows are carried on the shoulders of the faithful, while candles create an atmosphere of poignant intensity. The village participates in a collective grief, made tangible by gestures and sounds that date back thousands of years.
Don't miss this event if you want to discover the soul of the Amalfi Coast, beyond the postcards and selfies: this is not just tourism, but an authentic encounter with a community and its history.
