📍 Nature excursion: the Valle delle Ferriere

If you want to get away from the sea for a few hours and immerse yourself in a green and rejuvenating landscape, the Valle delle Ferriere is one of the most fascinating excursions on the coast.

Located behind Amalfi, this nature reserve offers a trail through shady woods, streams, waterfalls and rare botanical species. Along the way, you can admire ancient ruins of medieval ironworks, which give the valley its name, as well as enchanting views worthy of a fairy tale.

The excursion is accessible even to those who are not particularly experienced, but it is highly rewarding for lovers of trekking and nature photography.

Here you will find a beautiful guided excursion!

📍 Relax by the sea: Capo di Conca Beach

Just 1 kilometre from the villa, Capo di Conca Beach is a hidden gem, ideal for those seeking a quiet and picturesque spot by the sea. Nestled between cliffs and dominated by the Saracen tower of Capo di Conca, it is perfect for a relaxing day away from the crowds.

The water here is clear and deep, ideal for a refreshing dip or snorkelling. Near the beach, there are also bars and restaurants with sea views, perfect for lunch or an aperitif at sunset.

And you are also close to:
📍 Atrani, one of the smallest villages in Italy and the smallest on the Amalfi Coast, an authentic medieval gem just a stone's throw from Amalfi.
📍 Conca dei Marini, with its white houses overlooking the sea and the famous Emerald Grotto.
📍 Fiordo di Furore, just 3 km away, one of the most scenic inlets on the coast, perfect for memorable photos or a dip in the sea.

🗓️ Events not to be missed

If you are staying in Amalfi and want to enjoy authentic, intense experiences deeply rooted in the identity of the area, there are three events not to be missed that enliven the city every year with colours, sounds and centuries-old traditions.

✅ Byzantine New Year
Every year, between 31 August and 1 September, Amalfi and nearby Atrani are transformed into a fascinating medieval stage to celebrate the Byzantine New Year. This historical re-enactment marks the beginning of the fiscal and legal year according to the Byzantine calendar, a period when Amalfi enjoyed a certain autonomy within the Eastern Empire.

During the event, ladies, knights and pages parade in period costumes, culminating in the coronation of the new Magister of Amalfi Civilisation. The streets come alive with shows, music and colours, offering visitors a unique immersion in local history and traditions.

✅ Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics
One of the most spectacular events on the coast, the Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics is a historical and sporting event that celebrates the splendour of the four Italian maritime republics: Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice. Each edition takes place in rotation in one of the four cities, involving hundreds of participants, musicians and rowers in a great city festival.

In Amalfi, the programme is spread over several days of celebrations: historical parades in medieval costumes, cultural events, sporting competitions and re-enactments of the glorious maritime past. The most eagerly awaited moment is the actual regatta, where teams in costume compete on historic boats in a race of great visual and emotional impact.

📣 The last regatta in Amalfi took place in May 2025.

✅ Feast of St. Andrew
Deeply felt by the local community, the Feast of St. Andrew is the spiritual soul of Amalfi. It is celebrated twice a year:
🔹on 27 June, in memory of the miraculous rescue of the city from a Saracen invasion,
🔹and on 30 November, the day of the martyrdom of the Apostle.

The most exciting moment is the solemn procession in which the statue of the saint, carried on the shoulders of bearers, descends with force and speed down the steep steps of the cathedral to cross the streets of the city.

The day ends with spectacular fireworks over the sea, concerts and religious celebrations, offering participants an engaging and authentic experience. It is one of those events that touches the heart, even of those visiting Amalfi for the first time, because it expresses the participation and devotion of the locals.

📌 Not to be missed if you are staying here

✅ A sweet taste of history at Pasticceria Pansa
If you are in Amalfi, you cannot miss a stop at the historic Pasticceria Pansa, an institution that has been delighting generations of locals and travellers since 1830.

Located right next to the Duomo, this old-fashioned shop is a paradise for foodies and lovers of authenticity. Stepping inside means crossing the threshold of a confectionery tradition that has spanned the centuries with elegance, fidelity to original recipes and a palpable passion for excellence.

📣 The must-try items? The Santa Rosa sfogliatella, limoncello babà, lemon delight cake and cassatine.

But even a simple coffee accompanied by an almond biscuit becomes a small ritual of pleasure.

The pastry shop, still run by the Pansa family, is also a Slow Food presidium and offers a warm and refined welcome. Ideal for a sweet break between visits or to take home a truly special (edible) souvenir of the Amalfi Coast.

Here you will also find our guide to pastry shops on the Amalfi Coast, to help you plan some sweet stops during your outings to discover our villages!

✅ Romantic dinner among the waves and stars at La Tonnarella
For those looking for a more intimate and evocative dining experience, La Tonnarella is the perfect restaurant. Perched above the sea, along the coast road connecting Amalfi to Conca dei Marini, this corner of paradise offers one of the most beautiful terraces on the coast.

The sound of the waves, the golden light of the sunset, the scent of the sea: everything contributes to creating the ideal atmosphere for a romantic dinner, perhaps based on fresh fish, homemade pasta and carefully selected local wines.

The menu varies according to the season and the availability of the catch, but every dish is a tribute to the genuine flavours of the Amalfi tradition. The service is attentive but never intrusive, perfect for letting yourself go and enjoying a relaxing evening of conversation and glasses of Falanghina or Fiano wine.

La Tonnarella is a discreet gem, far from the hustle and bustle of tourism, and for this reason unforgettable. You can request a shuttle service from Amalfi to reach the restaurant comfortably by boat.
